Player Bio: Connor Banks



2004: Played in seven games...had two tackles (both solo) on the season...recorded one sack against Stanford on Nov. 6...was recognized as a Hard Hat Player for his work in ASU's winter strength and conditioning program for the third time in his career.

2003: Played in all 12 games...recorded nine tackles, eight of them solo...also turned in 2.5 tackles for loss...made a career-high five solo tackles Nov. 1 vs. California, two for a loss...had his first career sack vs. the Golden Bears.

2002: Played in 10 games...recorded five tackles, one unassisted... had a nine-yard interception return for a touchdown and a fumble recovery against UCF.

2001: Played in nine games last season at linebacker...had six tackles with two unassisted...four tackles came against San Jose State.

2000: Redshirted...missed most of the season with a neck injury.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2000 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Richmond, Calif....a member of the "Cream of the Crop," the top 20 prospects in the East Bay by the Contra Costa Times...two-way all-league lineman at St. Mary's High in Berkeley...played offensive line, tight end and defensive end at St. Mary's...three-year starter for the Panthers...St. Mary's upset No. 1 El Cerrito and De Anza before falling to Foothill in the 1999 NCS 2A East Bay finals...had 127 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 21 quarterback hurries and eight quarterback sacks as a senior...rushed eight times for 60 yards and one touchdown and caught four passes for 129 yards and two scores...as a fullback, threw numerous pancake blocks for two 1,000-yard rushers...as a senior won the Steve Zanatto Award for team leadership, inspiration and the player most likely to achieve success in college football...was all-ACCAL on offense and defense...was All-Contra Costa Times on offense and defense...was ranked No. 5 in the "Cream of the Crop" section by the Contra Costa Times...earned all-metro on defense by the San Francisco Examiner...was All-Eastbay on defense by the Alameda Newspaper Group...had 90 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hurries, 14 quarterback sacks and forced two fumbles as a senior...caught two passes for 70 yards as a tight end...as a junior was All-ACCAL on defense and All-Contra Costa Times on defense...was the MVP on defense as a freshman...won the Coach's Award in basketball in 1996 and 1997...lettered three times in football and twice in track and field...competed as a member of a 4 x 100-meter relay team in the 1999 Penn Relays.

PERSONAL: Earned his bachelor's degree in political science in December of 2004...parents are Michael T. Banks (battalion chief) and Lones T. Stern-Banks (asst. risk manager)...has one brother, Brandon, and a sister, Ryanne...father played free safety at St. Mary's College of Calif....his brother played wide receiver at St. Mary's College and his sister played soccer at San Jose State...born Nov. 11, 1982, in Berkeley, Calif.
