Player Bio: Antone Saulsberry



ASU: Former running back who switched to linebacker, the position at which he was originally recruited, prior to the 2005 season...is one of ASU's biggest linebackers (232 pounds)...will compete for time as a reserve MIKE (middle) linebacker...has appeared in 24 games with 10 tackles (six solo) during his Sun Devil career...as a running back, he recorded 28 carries for 100 yards (3.6 avg.) and one touchdown during the 2004-05 seasons...earned Hard Hat player recognition for his work in ASU's offseason strength and conditioning program.

2007: Played in 10 games as a reserve linebacker and as part of the coverage units on special teams...totaled nine tackles (five solo) on the season...had a season-high three tackles (all solo) in season-opening win over San Jose State on Sept. 1...collected two tackles in victory over San Diego State on Sept. 15.

2006: Saw action in one game, competing against Nevada on Sept. 9.

2005: Saw action in two games (Temple and Northwestern), but suffered a season-ending injury and was awarded a medical redshirt for the year...had 10 carries for 36 yards (3.6 avg.) and one touchdown....posted eight carries for 31 yards and his first career rushing touchdown against Temple in the season opener on Sept. 1...had two carries for five yards against Northwestern.

2004: Played in 11 games...one of five Sun Devils to see action as a true freshman...carried the ball 18 times for 64 yards on the season...rushed 11 times for 37 yards vs. Washington State...also had seven carries for 27 yards in the Sun Bowl vs. Purdue...had one tackle at Oregon.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2004 graduate of Bellflower (Calif.) High School...listed as the No. 102 player in the state of California by SuperPrep Magazine...an all-region selection in the postseason by SuperPrep...also listed as the No. 23 player at his position by Rivals.com in addition to the No. 47 player in California...three-time All-Suburban League selection...twice listed as a Long Beach Press-Telegram Dream Team player (2002-03 and 2003-04)...tallied 75 tackles and two interceptions as a senior...Bellflower went 7-4 in 2003...also rushed for 1,043 yards and 14 touchdowns on 103 carries as a senior...averaged eight yards per carry and scored 90 points...caught three passes for 46 yards (a 15-yards-per-catch average)...registered 69 tackles (47 solos, 22 assists), caused four fumbles, recovered two fumbles, had one interception and added two quarterback sacks in 2003...as a junior, stats included 104 carries for 807 yards and 74 points scored...added two pass receptions for 66 yards...had 62 tackles (37 solos, 25 assists), four caused fumbles, two recovered fumbles, two interceptions, one sack and two defensive touchdowns...as a sophomore tallied 66 tackles (40 solos, 26 assists), four caused fumbles, two recovered fumbles and three sacks...won the 2003 Suburban League Championship in the 100-meters with a time of 10.7 seconds...was the anchor on the 4x100 Suburban League Championship team...coached by Brian Mustain.

PERSONAL: Majoring in interdisciplinary studies (sociology and education)...parents are Stan and Annette Saulsberry...has two brothers, Theodore Grafford (28) and Stan Saulsberry Jr. (23)...born April 8, 1986 in Fountain Valley, Calif....full name is Antone Joe Saulsberry.
