2004: Earned second-team All-Pac-10 honors...was the team's Most Valuable Offensive Player at the year-end banquet...was also a recipient of the Cecil Abono Co-Captain Award for the third straight season...was a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Quarterback Award, both of which are awarded annually to the nation's top collegiate quarterback...started 11 games at quarterback...broke the school record for single-season touchdowns with 30, one more than the 29 that Mike Pagel threw in 1981...finished second in the Pac-10 with 286.4 passing yards per game...his 3,150 passing yards were second on the ASU single-season charts to only his 3,877 yards in 2002...that marked his third straight 3,000-yard season...ranked second in the Pac-10 and 14th in the nation in total offense (276.2 yards per game)...also ranked sixth in the nation in points responsible for with 16.7 points per game...was third in the league and 22nd in the nation in passing efficiency (138.40)...set the ASU single-season record for lowest interception percentage (.0211) with just nine interceptions in 426 attempts...his 30 touchdown passes were second among the league's quarterbacks to Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart of USC (33)...threw four touchdown passes in ASU's Nov. 6 win over Stanford to become the Pac-10's career leader in scoring strikes...tied John Elway's mark of 77 with a 41-yard pass to Terry Richardson in the second quarter of the game and broke the mark with a 52-yard pass to Matt Miller as the first quarter ended... had 415 yards in that game to go along with his four TD passes and was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation Division I-A National Offensive Player of the Week and the Pac-10 Co-Offensive Player of the Week...set ASU's single-season mark for touchdown passes (30) in ASU's Nov. 13 win over Washington State, tossing five TD passes vs. the Cougars...was named the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Week and the USAToday.com National Player of the Week after completing 25-of-51 passes for 415 yards and a career-high six touchdowns in ASU's come-from-behind win over UCLA on Oct. 23...threw two fourth-quarter TD passes to bring the team back from an 11-point deficit against the Bruins...also tossed a season-long 79 pass in that game...became Arizona State's career passing yardage leader on Oct. 16 against top-ranked USC...tied Jake Plummer's career mark of 8,827 yards with a seven-yard pass to Zach Miller on ASU's second drive of the second quarter and surpassed it with a 10-yard pass to Derek Hagan on the team's third drive that period...turned in a season-high 428 yards on 31-of-43 passing with five touchdowns Sept. 18 vs. then No. 16/12 Iowa...came into the Iowa game third on the ASU career touchdowns list behind College Football Hall of Famer Danny White (64, 1971-73) and current Denver Bronco Jake Plummer (65, 1993-96) but tied Plummer in the third quarter and took sole possession of ASU's career mark with a scoring strike to Zach Miller in the fourth quarter against the Hawkeyes...threw his first interception of the 2004 season in the second quarter of the Sept. 18 Iowa game, snapping a stretch of three straight games, 15 quarters and 136 attempts dating back to 2003...had 292 yards with three TDs and no interceptions in ASU's Sept. 11 win at Northwestern...opened the season with a 241-yard, three-touchdown effort on 18-of-37 passing Sept. 2 against UTEP.
2003: Earned honorable-mention All-Pac-10 honors...was a recipient of the Cecil Abono Co-Captain Award...finished the season with 3,044 passing yards, which ranks third on ASU's single-season list...finished third in the Pac-10 in passing yards per game (253.7) and fourth in total offense (243.2 yards per game)...despite injuring his ankle on Oct. 25 against UCLA, averaged 267.0 yards and threw nine TD passes over the last four games of the season, including a season-high-tying four scoring strikes Nov. 8 at Stanford... after missing just three quarters with the ankle injury, returned to action against California on Nov. 1, completing 23-of-53 passes for 357 yards...had two interceptions against Cal, snapping a three-game streak without a pick that spanned 11 quarters and 107 pass attempts...threw just 10 interceptions in his 421 pass attempts (.0238), which then set the school record for lowest interception percentage in a season (broken by Walter in 2004)...led the Sun Devils to a thrilling come-from-behind victory on Oct. 18 against North Carolina, completing three passes for 69 yards on the game-winning drive...that drive included a 42-yarder to Derek Hagan to bring the team to the UNC five-yard line and a five-yard game-winner to Skyler Fulton in the end zone as time expired...also set career highs vs. the Tar Heels for single-game completions (34) and pass attempts (58)...finished with 408 yards against North Carolina...earned Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Week honors with 316 yards on 18-of-28 passing with three TDs and no interceptions in ASU's Oct. 11 win over Oregon...collected 305 yards on 19-of-38 passing with one TD on Oct. 4 against AP national champion USC...also threw four touchdown passes in ASU's season-opening victory against Northern Arizona.
2002: Set the Arizona State single-season record and became the first 3,000-yard passer in school history with 3,877 passing yards, breaking the previous mark of 2,878 by Danny White in 1973...turned in the third-best single-season passing performance in Pac-10 history and became the first player in Pac-10 history to throw four 400-yard passing games in a season...also shattered school records for passing attempts (483) and completions (274)...finished second on the ASU single-season list for touchdowns with 28, just one shy of the then school record of 29 TD passes thrown by Mike Pagel in 1981 (broken by Walter in 2004)...also tied for sixth on the Pac-10's all-time list for TD passes in a single season...was the co-recipient of ASU's Most Valuable Offensive Player award with wide receiver Shaun McDonald...also earned the Cecil Abono Co-Captain Award as voted on by his teammates...set the Pac-10 single-game passing record with 536 yards in ASU's upset at No. 6 Oregon on Oct. 19, breaking the mark of 534 yards held by fellow Sun Devil Paul Justin vs. Washington State in 1989...was named the Oct. 20 Sporting News, cnnsi.com and USAToday.com National Player of the Week...was also the Pac-10 Player of the Week honors following the Oregon game...earned his first start of the season vs. Stanford on Sept. 28 where he completed 22 of 37 passes for 414 yards and five touchdowns...his five TD's vs. the Cardinal tied for third on the ASU single-game charts...followed his Stanford outing up with 474 yards (27-of-45) vs. North Carolina...his 888 yards in those two games broke the school record for passing yards in back-to-back games...he also became the first ASU signal-caller to throw for 400 yards in back-to-back contests...had earned the start at San Diego State on Sept. 14 but injured his knee in practice...instead came off the bench to lead ASU to the biggest comeback in school history, throwing four TD passes to erase a 22-point deficit and give the Sun Devils a 39-28 victory...completed his first two passes for touchdowns to McDonald (72 yards and 33 yards) in a stretch of 27 seconds vs. the Aztecs... completed 29 of 51 attempts for 477 yards and four TDs vs California on Nov. 9...had a season-long 85-yard touchdown pass vs. the Bears...was responsible for three of the top 11 single-game passing efforts in Pac-10 history in 2002...finished third in the Pac-10 and 19th in the nation in passing efficiency (137.10)...also ended up third in the league and 18th in the country in total offense (261.5 yards per game)...set Sun Devil total offense records for total yards (3,661) and yards per game (261.5)...tied Danny White (1973) with four games with at least 300 yards of total offense and turned in the third-best single-season performance in Pac-10 history...gained the most yards in school history in consecutive games with 901 yards (422 vs. Stanford and 479 vs. UNC) as well as the most in four consecutive games with 1,594 yards of total offense (422 vs. Stanford, 479 vs. UNC, 185 vs. OSU and 508 at Oregon).
2001: Saw action in all 11 games, starting two...was named to the Freshman All-Pac-10 Team by the Sporting News...was 38 of 86 (44.2 percent) for 546 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions...efficiency rating of 104.38...had a season-long pass of 53 yards against Washington State...against UCLA, was 16 of 29 for 226 yards, two touchdowns and one interception...had 28 rushing attempts for 22 yards...had a season-long run of 17 yards against Oregon. 2000: Redshirted.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2000 graduate of Grand Junction (Colo.) High School...named honorable-mention All-America by USA Today...member of the Tacoma News Tribune's "Western 100" listing...ranked the 88th-best player in the nation by the Sporting News...second-team all-west by the Orange County Register...a PrepStar Top 100 Dream Team player as the No. 8 quarterback in the nation...ranked as the No. 15 quarterback in the nation by SuperPrep Magazine on its "All-America 308" listing...listed as the No. 19 player on the Midlands Region Super 30 by SportsLine/PrepStar...Max Emfinger listed him as a Third-Team All-American for USA Today...listed as one of the "Dandy Dozen" in the run/pass quarterback category by Max Emfinger... completed 193 of 361 passes for 2,789 yards and 24 touchdowns as a senior...completed 131 of 261 for 2,116 yards and 21 touchdowns as a junior...named to the PrepStar Preseason All-American Team...also an All-America choice by PrepStar and Rivals 100...listed as the No. 19 player in the Midlands Region by PrepStar in its Super 30 All-Midlands Region team...connected on 131 of 261 passes for 2,116 yards and 21 touchdowns as a junior...and all-Southwest League player as a junior and senior...all-conference in the Colorado Springs/Southwest League as a senior...earned all-state honorable mention as a junior and senior...lettered three times in football, twice in basketball and once in track and field...captained the football team during his senior year... as a freshman, played a varsity basketball game with a broken finger and scored 20 points (hit four clutch free throws in final two minutes of the game to win it)...had a great ASU Camp in June of 1999 and committed shortly thereafter.
PERSONAL: Earned his bachelor's degree in communication in May of 2004...his father, Randy, played baseball at ASU and his mother, Selina, is a graduate as well...has four brothers, Cameron, Kellen, Eric and Stuart...born May 11, 1982, in Phoenix...his grandparents own a cabin at Camp Tontozona... full name is Andrew Scott Walter.
