Marmolejo has been to the past three Olympic Games: Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008, making her the first Mexican woman to qualify for three Olympics in swimming. She is currently ranked 43rd in the world in the breaststroke events.

Marmolejo earned the bronze medal in the 200 breast at the 2003 Pan American Games. In the Central American Games, she has tallied six gold medals and three silver and accumulated eight gold and five silver medals at the Central American Championships.
