IRVING, Texas – As a result of leading the No. 20-ranked Sun Devil Softball program to three wins, including two over a nationally ranked opponent, last week, Meika Lauppe was selected as the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday morning.
Lauppe’s weekly honor marked the second Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honor for the Sun Devils this season after Kenzie Brown was selected on Feb. 10, 2026. The second weekly conference pitching honor for Arizona State this season marks the most by ASU in a single season since Lindsay Lopez (May 9) and Marissa Schuld (March 28) were both selected as the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week during the 2022 campaign.
Over the course of Arizona State’s four contests last week, Lauppe (8-2) led the Sun Devil pitching staff with a 3-0 mark to pair with a 1.50 earned run average in 14.0 innings pitched across four pitching appearances. The California native issued just three walks, while striking out eight and surrendering just three earned runs. She held left-handed batters to just a .158 batting average (3-19) on the week, while opposing batters batted just .190 (4-21) against Lauppe with a runner on base. The junior right-hander surrendered just three two-out hits during 15 two-out at-bats for a .200 batting average.
Lauppe began her week with four innings of scoreless softball during Arizona State’s 10-1 win at UTEP on Tuesday, March 10. She struck out four and did not issue a walk. She threw 54 total pitches against the Miners with 40 being strikes. She returned to the pitching circle three days later to throw a scoreless top of the eighth against then-No. 21/15 Oklahoma State and set the stage for Kaylee Pond’s game-ending solo home run in the bottom half of the frame.
Lauppe got the starting assignment against the Cowgirls less than 24 hours later and threw a seven-inning complete game – her second complete game of the season – and scattered eight hits to 31 batters faced, issued just two walks and struck out three while allowing just three earned runs. She completed the seven-inning complete game in less than 100 pitches as she concluded the top of the seventh at the 98-pitch mark.
Lauppe made it a 4-for-4 week during the Sun Devils’ series finale against the Cowgirls as she, again, returned to the pitching circle on Sunday, March 15 and threw two more scoreless innings. She struck out one of the seven batters she faced and did not issue a walk.
