TEMPE - Sun Devil Men's Tennis (6-0) faces its first road test of the season this weekend at ITA Kickoff Weekend, hosted by University of San Diego, one of the 16 seeded host schools. ASU faces off against No. 8 San Diego (2-0) on Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. MST and will face either Princeton or Miami on Jan. 24.
Both matches will be streamed on Track Tennis, and live stats will be available here. With two wins this weekend, ASU would qualify for the ITA Indoor National Championships in Chicago, Illinois Feb. 6-10. The last time ASU was among the qualifiying 16 teams, was during the 2023-24 season when the team defeated Florida State and VCU to escape the Tallahassee Regional.
Sun Devil Notables
- ASU's 6-0 start is the best start in program history since the team's reinstatement.
- Last season, the Sun Devils were winless on the road in seven matches.
- The last time ASU faced off against then-No. 7 USD was Feb. 23, 2025 at Whiteman Tennis Center, and it was a 4-3 win in favor of the visiting team.
- ASU has not defeated a top-25 opponent since taking down No. 14 Baylor in the UTR Collegiate Championships on March 16, 2025.
- Three Sun Devils have a team-leading four singles wins: sophomore Niels Villard, senior Mathis Bondaz, and junior Jelani Sarr.
- Sophomore Ofek Shimanov has a team-leading six doubles wins, and has won every doubles match this season playing alonside Villard (3-0) and junior Bor Artnak (3-0).

- In 2024-25, San Diego posted a 10-1 record at home at Hogan Tennis Center and outscored their opponents 45-10 in their 11 dual matches.
Previewing the Hurricanes
- Have opened the spring with a 3-0 record.
- Miami has not surrendered a point to an opponent this season after picking up two 4-0 and one 7-0 victory.
- In the most recent ITA singles polls (Nov. 15) had the #30-ranked player in Antonio Prat.
- In the most recent ITA doubles polls (Nov. 15) had the #50-ranked pair in Antonio Prat and Jakub Kroslak.
- Ended the 2024-25 slate with a 13-11 record.
- Were 0-2 in neutral matches and 0-9 in road matches last season.

- Last season Princeton went 22-9 and fell to then-No. 4 Virginia in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
