TEMPE – No. 2/18 Sun Devil Swim and Dive is in first place in both the Men’s and Women’s competition following two sessions that took place on Friday, Jan. 16 at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The Sun Devils finished first in 18 of 28 events ahead of the final day of competition, which is set for Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. MST and begins with the 1650 free.

Senior Andy Dobrzanski set a personal best with a winning time of 51.00 in the 100 breast, winning the event by more than one second. His time is a Mona Plummer Aquatic Center record, breaking Leon Marchand’s record of 51.01 set in 2023. In the evening session, Dobrzanski followed up his morning performance with a personal best in the 200 breast at 1:50.45, winning the race by nearly four seconds.

The Sun Devil men had three swimmers under 19 seconds in the 50 free. Ilya Kharun was first in the ‘A’ final at 18.62, and Tommy Palmer was second with 18.98. In the ‘B’ final, Remi Fabiani was first in 18.99, then Jonny Kulow placed second in 19.12.

Both ASU men’s and women’s teams won the 200 medley relay to start the day; the women were first in 1:36.69 with a season best. The men hit the wall first in 1:22.50, followed by the B-team in 1:22.81. Sophomore Julia Ullmann won the 100 fly in a swift 51.83, and junior Ilya Kharun won the event by more than a second in 44.39.

Freshman Albane Cachot was first at the wall in the 200 free in 1:45.63 as the ASU men swept the podium with graduate Remi Fabiani placing first in 1:32.86, Quin Seider at 1:33.75 and Filip Senc-Samardzic in third at 1:33.76. Cachot placed second in the 50 free in 22.44.

Freshman Mattia Mauri placed first in the 500 free with a top 10 time of 4:16.54. Junior Alexa Reyna was first on the women’s side in the 'B' final, hitting the wall in 4:44.12. Deniz Ertan had a first-place finish in the 'A' final in 4:45.86.

The women’s 200 free relay concluded the morning with a win in 1:29.54, which was the fourth fastest in school history. The men’s relay was first with a time of 1:15.01. To end the day, the women’s 400 medley relay was second in 3:33.86. The men’s team posted a time of 3:01.84, and the ASU-B team was second in 3:02.74.

The Sun Devils will conclude the Big 12 West Championships starting at 10 a.m. MST on Saturday, Jan. 17. Live results can be found on Meet Mobile.
