TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Wrestling tallied its first conference win as members of the Big 12, defeating California Baptist, 34-10, on Sunday afternoon at Mt. San Antonio College.

Reigning national champion Richard Figueroa made his return to the mat for the first time since suffering an injury at the Daktronics Invite in November. Figueroa was in complete command throughout his 7-1 win over CBU's Mitchell Neiner to improve to 3-1 on his young season.

He was one of seven Sun Devils to defeat a Lancer on Sunday, as four of their five bonus-point wins came via pin-fall.

A 10-10 score at the halfway point of the bout, the Sun Devils closed their afternoon on an emphatic note, winning their final five matches courtesy of Cohlton Schultz, Figueroa, Julian Chlebove, Daniel Miranda and Jesse Vasquez. Miranda made his first career dual start in impressive fashion, pinning Damian Alvarez in just 2:25.

Made for March
The Sun Devils routinely make their living in the postseason. After a hot finish to their regular season in the spring, they stormed into the Gill Coliseum and captured yet another Pac-12 Championship title at the conference's final championships. It marked the 24th conference title in team history, the sixth under Jones' guidance and the fourth in the past five seasons.

With eight qualifiers competing at the NCAA Championships, the Sun Devils saw four individuals reach the podium. Figueroa etched his name in Sun Devil history with a finals win against Iowa's Drake Ayala, slamming the door on an unbelievable run in Kansas City in which he went 5-0 and dethroned two top-three seeds.

The 2023-24 season marked the team's fourth consecutive top-seven finish at the national tournament, while also earning four All-Americans for the fourth straight year.
