TEMPE – Sun Devil Softball dropped the second game of its three-game series in a back-and-fourth battle with Oregon State, 10-5, Saturday night at Farrington Stadium.

Tanya Windle continued her hot bat, going 2-for-4 on the night with a double, and Samantha Swan returned to the lineup with a 2-for-3 night that included her fourth home run of the season.

Arizona State (16-11, 1-4 Pac-12) struck first with Swan's home run to straight-away center to take a 1-0 lead after two innings of play. After a scoreless third, Oregon State (14-14, 3-2 Pac-12) hit a pair of two-run home runs in the fourth inning to open a 4-1 lead.

A leadoff single by Windle kicked off the fourth inning for the Sun Devils. Following a flyout, Alesia Denby was hit by a pitch, and then a Swan single loaded the bases, setting up Libby Walsh for a single to left that scored Windle and Denby and cut the deficit to 4-3.

ASU retook the lead in the sixth inning behind home runs on consecutive pitches from Kayla Lissy and Denby. The back-to-back homers had the Sun Devils in front 5-4 heading to the seventh.

The Beavers responded with six runs in the top of the seventh to take a 10-5 lead, ultimately putting the game out of reach for the Sun Devils.

"Yeah, excited for the future of the program, right? Those are all three young ones. They're starting to earn some time, and they're coming up in some big moments."

On the alumni coming back tonight
"I got the chance to visit with them before the game, and I love that they feel welcomed here and that they're starting to connect with the girls. There's such a rich tradition of winning here. We're gonna have dinner here in a few minutes, and they can give the girls all their pep talk and wisdom. It's been really lovely to see them all back this weekend."
