CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Five members of Sun Devil Women's Golf were selected as Academic All-American Scholars, the WGCA announced as part of their postseason honors.
Senior Amanda Linner, Junior Ashley Menne, Sophomores Grace Summerhays and Calynne Rosholt, along with freshman Paula Schulz-Hanssen were all recognized for their efforts and achievements in the classroom. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, guidelines that make it one of most prestigious Academic All-American Teams in collegiate athletics.
"We are so proud of our Academic All-Americans," Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye remarked. "These young women work as hard in the classroom as they do on the golf course. They continue to be great examples for Sun Devil Women's Golf!"
This is the 18th consecutive year that at least one Sun Devil was named an All-American Scholar. In total, the Arizona State Women's Golf program has had 79 individuals earn the academic distinction since the National Golf Coaches Association established the annual award in 1988, with 34 of those coming since Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye took over prior to the 2015-16 season. The Maroon & Gold boast five total honorees for the second consecutive year. Despite having one of the smallest teams in terms of numbers (eight on the roster), Arizona State still managed to tie for the second-most individual to receive the distinction in the Pac-12 (Washington State, 6).
Amanda Linner is an All-American Scholar for the third time, earning the status each year she was eligible. Ashley Menne and Grace Summerhays are officially All-Americans on the course and in the classroom, each emerging as All-American Scholars for the second consecutive season. First-time WGCA selections included sophomore Calynne Rosholt, who was also a Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll member. She is joined by freshman Paula Schulz-Hanssen, who wasted no time getting it done on the course or in the classroom during her first year in Tempe.
