TEMPE – After spending two weeks at home and sweeping the weekend with victories over Washington and Oregon, No. 40 Sun Devil men's tennis (12-8, 2-4) hit the road one last time this regular season to face off against No. 27 Utah Utes (18-3, 3-1) on Sunday, April 16, at 1 p.m. AZT and can be seen on Utah Live Stream.
Previewing the Sun Devils:
Coming off two wins the Huskies and the Ducks, the Sun Devils moved their record to 13-8 this past weekend, as the team will look to carry their momentum against the Utes in Salt Lake City to pull off the upset. The last time the Sun Devils went against the Utes, Utah managed a 4-2 victory in Tempe, but the team managed a 4-2 victory in Salt Lake City in 2021.
Sophomore No. 40 Murphy Cassone leads the Sun Devils in victories, boasting an 14-4 record in singles matches and winning five of his last seven. Junior Max McKinnon has found his groove, winning three straight singles matches and sweeping the weekend with two wins in singles and doubles matches. Most importantly, his last two wins have clinched victories for the Sun Devils to carry him to a 10-7 record this season while boasting an 11-7 doubles record.
Junior Spencer Brachman rebounded against the Huskies and the Ducks with two straight-set victories only dropping 10 games in the last two matches.
The Utah Utes:
The No. 27 ranked Utes are coming into the match with two victories over No. 29 California and No. 20 Stanford, only conceding three matches over the weekend. The Utes are boasting an impressive 18-3 record and currently are undefeated at home with a 10-0 record. Prior to hosting the Sun Devils, the Utes will hold a match against the Arizona Wildcats on Friday.
