WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah –  To kickstart the postseason, No. 14 Sun Devil Gymnastics took the top spot in the first session of the 2023 Pac-12 Gymnastics Championships with a 196.700 on Saturday afternoon at the Maverik Center.

Between the two sessions at the conference championships, Arizona State placed fifth. Junior Emily White tied for second on beam with her career-high 9.950.

Notable Stats
  • Arizona State (7-6, 4-3 Pac-12) secured its top seeding in the first session of the conference championships, with only one score below 9.800 counting across all four events.
  • The 196.700 team score is the third-highest Pac-12 Championship score in ASU history.
  • The beam squad brought the heat with a 49.325, bouncing back after a tough beam rotation in the previous meet. It was highlighted by a career-high 9.950 from junior Emily White. Fellow junior Sarah Clark also shone in the event, matching her season high with a 9.900.
  • White won the beam event title in the first session with a 9.950, a career high on beam for the junior. This was her fourth score of 9.9-plus on beam this year. The personal best also came a week after her first ever fall on beam, White getting a big bounce-back score.
  • The Gym Devils scored 49 or higher in all four rotations, which extends the vault and floor streaks of 49+ to eight meets in a row. On the bars, the squad has eclipsed that mark for seven straight.
  • Arizona State had multiple Pac-12 Championship debuts, as Cienna Samiley, Kayla Lee, and Skye Harper saw their first conference championship action.
  • Sarah Clark tied her season high with a 9.900, putting her over the mark she recorded in last year's conference meet.
