Quotes:
Arizona State Co-Head Coach Jay Santos
"I think we did a good job of continuing to battle throughout the meet. We started out on one of the tougher-scored events and hit the next three events. We hit them well, but we didn't hit them great with our landings. We easily could've been right there with some better landings today. We were just giving up too much. To me, it just came down to the details. We had some nice routines, but we just couldn't quite finish routines like we needed to. I think floor finished it off great for us, and I'm proud of the team. They hung in there and kept hitting routines. I think we finished really well, we just needed a little bit more."
On lineup changes
"We had to move some things around for a couple different reasons. I think the athletes that we put in did a good job, they hit their routines. A couple people hadn't competed that much and they did a good job handling that pressure in a regional meet. Anytime you have to rearrange things, it can get a little interesting, but I think ultimately it came down to the details. They did great stepping up today."
On the future of the program
"We've got plenty of people who have competed at a high level returning. We'll have some freshmen as well. Obviously the sting of disappointment is real right now, so I can't say I'm looking that far ahead at this point. We'll go back, have our offseason and get back to work. The overall picture of the program is still great. I'm very optimistic. We have a great team, a great core. I'm very excited about that."
Junior Hannah Scharf
On her performance
"I feel like I didn't reach my full potential today. I think I did a really good job of trying to rally everybody and keep everybody in the right mindset, but I think I did let it slip in a couple areas."
On floor
"It's always tough starting our meet on not the best foot, but I'm so unbelievably proud of how hard we've worked in the gym to make those changes, especially on floor. I'm so proud of every one of those girls."
