ROME - Three-time All-American and two-time NCAA Champion Zahid Valencia will be competing in the Matteo Pellicone in Men's Freestyle 86 kg class on Saturday, March 4.
The Matteo Pellicone International is the first event of the 2021 Ranking Series and the results go towards seeding at the Olympic Games.
The Sun Devil Wrestling alum will face Yeskali Dauletkazy of Kazakhstan in the first-round of men's freestyle. Dauletkazy placed seventh at 2019 U23 World Championships.
Wrestling begins at 10:30 a.m. local time (6:30 a.m. MST). Watch Valencia's match here.
Redshirt freshman Cohlton Schultz also flew to Rome to participate in the event. In his match on Thursday, he fell short in his Greco-Roman rematch with 2018 Senior World silver medalist, Adam Coon. This will conclude his week at the event.
