Notable Stats
  • Arizona State (6-6-1) beat No. 24 Arizona (5-7) for the fourth year in a row, counting the higher finish at Pac-12s last year. In head-to-head duals, it is the third win in a row.
  • The meet was close after each rotation, but the Sun Devils stayed steady all throughout to earn the win. The Wildcats led after the first rotation. ASU took the lead after the second rotation and never looked back.
  • Head coach Jay Santos has not lost a head-to-head dual against the Wildcats during his tenure (2017, 2018, 2020). His teams have also finished ahead of Arizona at the Pac-12 championship in 2018 and 2019.
  • The Sun Devils earned their third ranked win of the year. They have also defeated No. 10 Cal, No. 13 Auburn and No. 25 Penn State (all rankings at the time of the win).
  • ASU scored a 196.000-plus for the third meet in a row and fourth time this season. It is the second highest road score the year, after Monday's score at Stanford (196.575).
  • For just the second time this season, the Gym Devils scored a 49.000-plus in all four events. The other time was against Washington at home in February.
  • The vault success continued for the Gym Devils today. They scored a 49.225, their sixth meet in a row surpassing 49.000. A streak like this on vault has not been achieved since 2006. That season, they had nine-straight meets surpassing 49.000 on vault.
  • Fifth-year senior Morgan Wilson won the all-around title with a career-high 39.325. She also matched her career high on bars (9.850) and earned a new career best on floor (9.850).
  • Junior Cairo Leonard-Baker competed in the all-around for the first time in 2020, earning a 39.275 to take second place. She made her 2020 debut on beam, scoring a 9.750. She also led the team on floor with a 9.875.
  • Freshman Hannah Scharf won the vault title with a 9.875, her third vault title of the year. She also had a good meet on beam, earning a career-high 9.875.
  • Freshman Juliette Boyer won her first event title of her career, winning on bars with a 9.875, which matched her career best. She also tied her career high on floor with a 9.850.
  • This win does count for a Territorial Cup point in the Territorial Cup Series.

Congrats to our three event winners against the Cats: Juliette Boyer (bars), Hannah Scharf (vault) and Morgan Wilson (all-around)! ??????#GymDevils pic.twitter.com/Nk7VgXJjBE

Overall thoughts
"It was a great night for this team tonight. Everyone on both sides knows how much the rivalry match-up means. This team went on the road and gave a huge performance, and I'm really proud of how they are competing right now. Two Pac-12 road meets in a row and they have been two of our strongest competitions this season. Our confidence is definitely growing, and I feel like we are putting it together at the right time of year."
