STANFORD, Calif. – With the highest road score of the season, Arizona State gymnastics scored a 196.575 to beat Stanford's 195.975 in Maples Pavilion on Monday night.

Notable Stats
  • Arizona State (5-6-1) beat Stanford (0-14) for the third season in a row, two of the wins coming on the road.
  • The Sun Devils have scored over a 196.000 three times this season, including two in a row. The 196.575 scored tonight is the highest team total on the road in 2020. It is also the highest road score since March 2018.
  • On floor, ASU scored a 49.350, their highest event total for any event in 2020. It is the highest on floor since 2019 when the Sun Devils scored a 49.425 in February.
  • The 49.300 scored on bars was the highest total in the past two seasons. The last time ASU scored a 49.300 was back in February 2018.

  • Freshmen were earning career highs left and right on Monday night. On vault, freshmen Hannah Scharf and Gracie Reeves both scored 9.900s, career highs for both of them. Scharf also earned a career high on bars (9.875), in the all-around (39.400) and tied her career best on floor (9.875). Juliette Boyer had a career-high 9.850 on floor as well.
  • There were multiple event winners for Arizona State. Scharf and Reeves tied for first on vault and Leonard-Baker won bars. For Scharf, it is her second vault title, and for Leonard-Baker, it is her fourth bars title of the year.
  • Three Gym Devils competed in the all-around tonight. Scharf led the team with a 39.400 to take second, followed by Boyer's 39.175 and Reeves' 39.150.
  • Senior Jessica Ginn continued her hot streak on floor. She has yet to score below a 9.825 in 2020, earning a 9.900 to match her career high tonight.

Rotation One – Bars, 49.300
The Gym Devils opened up the meet with their highest bars score of the season, scoring a 49.300. All five scores that counted were a 9.800 or better, led by Leonard-Baker's 9.925 in the anchor spot. Scharf earned a career-high 9.875, which Boyer also scored to match her career best.

Rotation Two – Vault, 49.225
Vault continued to be a strong rotation for the Sun Devils, surpassing 49.000 for the fifth meet in a row. Freshmen Scharf and Reeves both scored 9.900s, career highs for each of them, to lead the team. Prior to this meet, there had been just one 9.900 from ASU on vault. Leonard-Baker rounded out the lineup with a strong 9.850, her fourth vault score of 9.825 or better this year.

Rotation Three – Floor, 49.350
On floor, Arizona State scored the best event total of the season with a 49.350. Ginn and Leonard-Baker wrapped up the rotation with a 9.900 and 9.925, respectively. For Ginn that tied her career high and for Leonard-Baker it was her season high. Additionally, Scharf tied her career best with a 9.875 and Boyer surpassed hers with a 9.850.

Rotation Four – Beam, 48.650
The team struggled in the final rotation with balance checks. Megan Thompson led the team with a lead-off 9.800. Scharf and Morgan Wilson scored 9.750s to lead ASU on beam.
