INDIANAPOLIS – No. 15 Arizona State kicked off their weekend at the 2017 NCAA DI Men's Swimming & Diving championships on a high note as the 800 free relay started a full slate of competition for the Sun Devils.

"I was pleased that we started the meet on a positive note and scored more points than in the entire meet last year," said head coach Bob Bowman. "Our program of events gets better each day so we are looking forward to tomorrow."

In 15th place, ASU's relay team – Cameron Craig, Patrick Park, Thomaz Martins, and Barkley Perry – finished less than a tenth off the school record set at Pac-12's and earned Honorable Mention All-America status. Their time of 6:17.57 and accompanying points already surpassed the number of team points accumulated at last season's NCAA's after just one event.

Thursday brings a longer day of competition, with both morning trials and evening finals, as well as the start of diving events midday.

Freshman Cameron Craig will swim his first of three individual events – the 200 IM – on Thursday with trials in the morning (10 am ET/7 am PT) followed by finals in the evening (6 pm ET/3 pm PT). Craig had the 14th fastest time in the nation in the event coming into this week.

Day two also brings the 400 medley and 200 free relays during the evening session.

In diving, David Hoffer makes his NCAA debut in the 1 meter trials at 12:15 pm ET/9:15 am PT. Consolation finals (9-16) will follow, starting 15 minutes after the end of prelims, with the finals during the event session.

All of Thursday's sessions will be streamed live on NCAA.com and indianasportscorp.org/ncaasd.

Live results will be available throughout the championships on NCAA.com.
