MANSFIELD/AUSTIN, Texas – In another record-breaking day for the Sun Devil swim and dive teams, another men's individual swim record fell while three men's divers advanced to Friday's finals.
After two days of competition, the men are 25 points behind LSU and 30.5 behind Texas A&M, sitting in third with 620.5. The women currently sit in fourth with 268 points.
Picking up the ASU men's second relay win of the meet, Cameron Craig, Richard Bohus, Thomaz Martins, and Barkley Perry capped the day with an 800 yard free relay win, finishing over six seconds faster than LSU in second.
Individually, Bohus set the Sun Devils' second school record of the meet, finishing the 100 yard back in 46.00, .11 faster than his own school record.
The Sun Devil men started Friday's finals with another fast relay swim, finishing in a close second in the 200 yard medley relay, just .45 behind Texas A&M's A-team.
Andrew Porter and Tadas Duskinas went 2-3 in the 100 yard fly, with Porter's 46.42 good for second in ASU's all-time records behind Duskinas' time from 2015.
The ASU women added to their tally as senior captain Kat Simonovic finished third in the 200 yard free while Indira Ceranic won the "C" final and Krista Kolkebeck won the "D" final in the same event.
Craig won his second individual event of the meet, the 200 yard free (1:34.57), good for ASU's all-time second-best time. Ben Olszewski won the event's "C" final while Tim Schade and Joao Ama went 1-2 in the "D" final.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Emily Glinecke picked up a "B" final win for the women while Christian Lorenz finished second overall on the men's side, just .02 second behind the first place finisher. Thibaut Capitaine and Danny Comforti picked up double-digit points finishing fourth and sixth in the event.
Gillian Rieth advanced to Friday's finals in three events – the 100 yard fly, 100 yard back, and with one of ASU's 200 yard medley relay teams.
In Austin, three of eight men's divers to advance to the finals were Sun Devils including David Hoffer who finished second (414.85), Heikki Makikallio who finished sixth (380.05), and Cody Rankin who finished eighth (293.30).
Saturday wraps up competition both for swim at Texas A&M and for diving in Austin.
