TEMPE, Ariz. – In a meet where the Gym Devils had a few misses on events, the Arizona State women’s gymnastics team showed resiliency and consistency in the face of adversity, scoring a team total of 194.250. Despite bright moments, the meet went in favor of the 10th-ranked UCLA Bruins who scored 197.350, Saturday, in Wells Fargo Arena.
Junior Taylor Allex claimed the all-around title for the Sun Devils with a score of 39.100, highlighted by a team-best 9.850 on floor. Senior Natasha Sundby added a 9.800 on floor exercise.
The uneven bars, once again, proved to be the most consistent event for Arizona State with the Gym Devils recording five scores of 9.700-plus. Junior Carissa Kraus, who rebounded from an awkward landing for her ankleon vault, led ASU on bars with a score of 9.825.
On beam, junior Stephanie Miceli once again showed her consistency in the event, recording her fifth score of 9.8-plus with a score of 9.825 to lead Arizona State.
The Sun Devils travel to Southern Utah on Fri., March 6th for the second dual meet of the season with the Thunderbirds. The Gym Devils came from behind in the first meet to post head coach Rene Lyst's first victory at Arizona State, 194.200-193.925.
