BOISE, Idaho - The Arizona State University wrestling team dropped its third consecutive dual on in falling to Boise State, 33-7, at Taco Bell Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Things got off to a good start for the Sun Devils (7-8, 2-1 Pac-12) as No. 19 Levi Cooper scored an impressive upset over No. 12 J.T. Felix in the heavyweight campaign with a 6-0 shut out to put ASU up 3-0 over the Broncos (6-5, 2-1 Pac-12).
Dalton Miller kept the momentum going as he handled Rami Haddadin in a 10-2 major decision and ASU found itself up 7-0 through two matches.
It was all BSU from that point however, as they'd win the next eight matches - a spree that included two tech falls, two major decision and a medical forfeit - to hand the Sun Devils their first loss of the season in conference play.
ASU looked on pace to win at least one more bout, but No. 5 Jake Meredith ran out of injury time with less than half a minute left in his bout against Cory Dixon and he was forced to take the injury default, despite holding a 4-2 edge with the riding time at that point.
The Sun Devils will look to regroup as they prepare for No. 2 Oklahoma State next Sunday at 2 p.m. MT in the team's lone home dual at Wells Fargo Arena this season, set to be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
