Southern Highlands Final Round

Sun Devil freshman Austin Quick tied for 42nd at the Southern Highland Collegiate Masters in Las Vegas, Nev., as it was completed on Sunday. Austin finished at 11-over 227 (75-75-77) as the teams battled some fierce winds on Sunday.

Senior Spencer Fletcher finished at 22-over 238 (tied for 63rd with 76-82-80).

Freshman Mathias Schjoelberg finished at 24-over 240 (77-79-84) and tied for 67th.

Host UNLV won the event with an 8-over 872 (287-292-293). ASU finished 15th at 80-over 944 (310-309-325).

Jin Song finished 72nd at 29-over 245 (82-78-85) and Stan Gautier finished 75th at 32-over 248 (87-77-84).

PAST SUCCESS IN LAS VEGAS
ASU won the Las Vegas Intercollegiate in the spring of 2000 and in December of 1991...Sun Devil All-American Jesper Kennegard won the individual title at the Southern Highlands Intercollegiate in the spring of 2010...2000 U.S. Amateur champion Jeff Quinney won the 2001 UNLV Rebel Classic...Phil Mickelson and Brett Dean tied for the 1991 UNLV Rebel Classic title...Dean won the 1990 UNLV Classic while Mickelson won the 1989 UNLV Classic...Billy Mayfair won the 1987 UNLV Classic.

NEXT EVENT
ASU will now play in the GCAA Match Play Championship March 18-20 at The Concession Golf Club in Sarasota, Fla. South Florida will serve as host school for the event and will be joined by defending champion Duke, ASU, Arkansas, California, Chattanooga, Colorado State, East Carolina, Indiana, Iowa, Kennesaw State, Liberty, UNC-Wilmington, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Washington State. Oklahoma State is the only two-time winner in the event's history (2004 and 2006). Arkansas, East Carolina, Kennesaw State, Liberty, UNC-Wilmington and South Florida will be making their first appearances in the event.

The Concession Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course designed in association with Tony Jacklin, was named "Best New Private Course of 2006" by Golf Digest magazine. It holds one of the highest Course and Slope Ratings by the United States Golf Association. The 7,470-yard, par 72 layout, is set on 520 acres of ruggedly pristine land dotted with massive oaks and majestic pines. It runs three miles from tip to tip.
