2012 Ameri Air Inv. Final Results

The Arizona State men's golf team didn't have its best round on Friday at the 22nd annual Amer Ari Invitational held at the Waikola Beach Resort in Hawaii, but it did enough to manufacture a winning record for the tournament as it finished eighth which included head-to-head wins against second-ranked Oregon and No. 14 Oklahoma State. The Sun Devils shot 286-285-293=864, which was even par for the tournament.

"You really have to give credit to Austin and Mathias who carried us all three rounds," said first-year Sun Devil coach Tim Mickelson. "Jin (Song), Spencer (Fletcher) and David (Lowe) all gave us rounds that counted during the week, so it was a total team effort. This was one of the most competitive fields we will see all season, so it for sure is a great building point."

ASU topped not only Oklahoma State and Oregon, but also Division I foes Texas Tech, San Francisco, San Jose State, Oregon State, Hawaii, Colorado and UC Davis.

Freshman Austin Quick finished at 5-under 211 (71-68-72) and tied for 13th. His 68 in the second round was easily was his best round of his freshman season, as in 13 previous rounds his best score was a 72. He posted a hole-in-one on the 188-yard No. 11 on Thursday. He had 11 birdies in the tournament in addition to his hole-in-one

Another freshman notched a top-25 finish, as Mathias Schjoelberg posted a 3-under 213 (68-76-69) and tied for 23rd. He posted five birdies in his final round and had 14 for the tournament.

Junior Jin Song improved his score by six strokes in the second round and finished with a 4-over 220 (75-69-76) and tied for 60th.

Senior Spencer Fletcher tied for 70th (74-72-76=222) while freshman David Lowe finished at 21-over 235 (73-78-84) and tied for 109th.

Texas won the tournament with a 30-under 834 (270-287-277).
