TEMPE, Ariz.—The fourth-ranked Arizona State women’s golf team holds the lead on the first day of the 38th annual PING/ASU Invitational. The Sun Devils shot a first-round total of 4-under 280, tying their season low set back at the Dale McNamara Invitational, to lead the field and hold a four-stroke lead over UCLA and Stanford.

The Sun Devils were led on the day by career rounds by sophomores Justine Lee and Laura Blanco. Leading the field, Lee shot a career-low 67 (-4) with five birdies on the day. Blanco also shot a career-low, recording a 2-under 69 to tie for seventh. The sophomore shot four birdies on the day.

Sophomore Daniela Ordonez shot an even-par 71 to tie for 13th in round one. The trio of ASU sophomores all finished the day tied for 13th or better. Senior Giulia Molinaro, ranked fourth in the nation individually, shot a 2-over 73 on the first day.

The second-round of the PING/ASU invitational continues at the par-71, 6,121-yard ASU Karsten Golf Course with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. PT.
