COLORADO SPRING, Colo.—On the final day of Zone E Championships, senior Elina Eggers took first place on the women’s platform. Eggers’ first place finish in the event earns her the No. 1 qualifying position from the region heading into the NCAA Championships. The senior scored a total of 598.90 in the event for the first place finish, almost 40 points over second-place Victoria Ishimatsu of USC.
In 2011, Eggers finished second overall in the nation at the NCAA Championships on platform with a score of 345.60, less than 10 points off NCAA champion Brittany Viola of Miami. With her second-place finish, Eggers earned her second-consecutive All-American honors.
The 2012 Women’s NCAA Championships, hosted by Auburn, begins Mar. 15 and runs through Mar. 17.
