TEMPE, Ariz.--Great performances on the day by the Sun Devil seniors marked a fitting way to celebrate senior day for the Arizona State swimming and diving team. Despite falling to Arizona, several Sun Devils had impressive showings at the meet and helped ceremoniously send off the seniors in their final meet at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center, Saturday.

Arizona State swept both diving events in season-best fashion with seniors Constantin Blaha and Elina Eggers taking top honors on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard. Blaha finished the 1-meter springboard with a total of 410.55, his highest total scored all season. Senior Cameron Bradshaw took second place in the event, also scoring a season-high total of 388.43. Eggers scored her top score of the season in the women’s 3-meter springboard, finishing first with a score of 322.43.

In swimming, senior Rebecca Ejdervik finished the 100 breast in a close second to Arizona’s Chelsey Salli. The senior finished the race with an NCAA B standard time of 1:00.57. Senior Penelope Yamauchi notched two, second place finished on the day, touching in second in both the 200 breast and 200 IM. Yamauchi was just one second off the NCAA B standard cut for the 200 breast, finishing the event with a time of 2:17.36.

Senior Yutaro Yamashita also picked up a pair of second place finishes, taking second place in the 200 free with a time of 1:40.36 and No. 2 in the 100 fly with a time of 49.26.

The Sun Devils also picked up some victories on the day with Cassie Morrice and Tristin Baxter finishing one and two in the 500 free. Morrice took the top spot for ASU, touching in with a time of 4:49.36, while Baxter was a close second with 4:51.10.

Baxter also took home a victory earlier in the meet for Arizona State, swimming the 1650 free in a time of 16:25.56. Sophomore Hayden Thomas won the men’s distance free event, swimming the 1000 free in a time of 9:23.05 to take first place.

Next up, the Sun Devils compete in the Pac-12 Championship. The women’s swimming and men’s and women’s diving championships will be held in Federal Way, Wash., Feb. 22-25, while the men’s swimming championship will be held in Long Beach, Calif., Feb. 29-Mar. 3.
