TEMPE, Ariz.--The Arizona State swimming and diving team opened the season with a dominating performance against UNLV, Saturday, at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe, Ariz. ASU won with a combined team score of 313-278.

In her first meet of the season, back-to-back Pac-10 Champion Rebecca Ejdervik swam an NCAA B cut time in 100 Breast, touching in with a time of 1:02.38. The senior started out the meet with a victory as part of the ASU 200 Medley relay. Ejdervik, Kelli Kyle, Caroline Kuczynski, and Shannon Landgrebe took home the victory in the first event for ASU, recording a time of 1:42.20.

Landgrebe also took home a pair of wins, individually, with first-place finishes in the 200 Free and the 50 Free. The junior touched in with a time of 1:50.22 in the 200 Free, just a couple seconds short of the NCAA B time.

Junior Mattie Kukors earned her first victory as a Sun Devil, finishing with the top time in the 500 Free. Kukors swam the event with a time of 4:58.76.

In diving, the Sun Devils swept the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Senior Elina Eggers to the top spot in each of the women's events, earning a score of 303.83 in the 3-meter and a score of 299.78 in the 1-meter. Eggers' scores, in the first meet of the season, qualified her to compete in the NCAA Zone E Championships.

Senior Constantin Blaha took first place in both men's events. The Sun Devil men dove against themselves because UNLV does not field a men's diving team. Blaha earned a score of 413.63 in the 3-meter and a score of 303.83 in the 1-meter. Blaha's scores also qualified him to compete in the NCAA Zone E Championships.

On the men's side, David Adalsteinsson took the top spot in the men's 200 Backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:52.75. Sophomore Hayden Thomas excelled in the distance freestyle events for the Sun Devils. Thomas took home first place in the 500 Free with a time of 4:40.00.
