STANFORD, Calif.—Despite snagging the doubles point to start the match, the top-ranked Stanford Cardinal was just a little too much for the No. 13 Arizona State women’s tennis team, defeating the Sun Devils 6-1 in Stanford, Calif.

ASU (13-4, 3-1) started the match taking the doubles points with hard fought victories in the No. 2 and 3 spots. ASU’s Sianna Simmons and Ashlee Brown also notched a victory on the doubles court with a 8-6 victory over the Cardinal pair Li/Tan.

In singles play the Cardinal (18-0, 5-0 Pac-10), who currently holds an NCAA-record home winning streak of 175 consecutive matches, took home the victory winning all six spots. The Aussies battled into extra sets with Stanford in the fifth and sixth spots. Michelle Brycki fell eventually to No. 55 Stacey Tan, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, while Veronica Li defeated Ashlee Brown 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (5).
