NEW ORLEANS, La.—Led by junior Giulia Molinaro, the No. 10 Arizona State women’s golf team finished the first day of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship in fourth place. The Sun Devils shot a 5-over 293, five strokes off tournament leader Tulane.

Individually, Molinaro carded a 1-under 71 to shoot the low round of the day for the Sun Devils. Freshman Daniela Ordonez shot a 1-over 73 to tie for 15th. Freshman Justine Lee shot a 2-over 74 in the first round to tie for 24th. Junior All-American Carlota Ciganda and freshman Laura Blanco each shot a 3-over 75 in the first round to tie for 33rd.

The talent-laden field for the tournament contains nine of the last 12 national champions includes four of the top-five ranked teams.

The second round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate continues tomorrow at the English Turn Golf & Country Club.
