FRANKLIN, Tenn.--Arizona State junior Carlota Ciganda surged into medalist contention in the second round of the 2010 Mason Rudolph Women's Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt University. The Spanish national, competing as an individual for the Sun Devils, carded a tournament second-round low 67 on Saturday.

"Carlota played a beautiful round of golf today making six birdies," said head coach Melissa Luellen. "It is really enjoyable to watch her confidence building."

Ciganda (74-67, 3-under 141) vaulted into a tie for 10th place shooting 5-under on the day.

Also competing as an individual, Giulia Molinaro shot a 75 for the second-straight round. Molinaro is tied for 63rd with a two-round total of 6-over 150 (75-75).

"Giulia is hitting it like a tour player," said Luellen. "She is capable of making lots of birdies. She just needs the first putt to drop early in the round."

The final round of the Mason Rudolph Women's Challenge concludes tomorrow at the par 72, 6,281-yard Vanderbilt Legends North Course.
