The Arizona State diving team got off to a solid start at the NCAA Zone E Championship meet. Six Sun Devils competed to earn spots to the NCAA Championships, with one ASU athlete already taking a spot.
Riding on momentum from a stellar Pac-10 Championship performance, Constantin Blaha scored a total of 806.00 points over the day to finish runner-up on the 3-meter springboard. The sophomore Olympian earned 393.70 points in the preliminaries and a score of 412.3 in the finals to earn his ticket to Columbus, Ohio.
Elina Eggers came close to earning a trip to the women's NCAA Championships on the first day as well. Eggers posted a total of 585.5 on the 1-meter springboard to finish fourth.
Riley McCormick finished sixth and Cameron Bradshaw was right behind him in seventh on the 3-meter. McCormick totaled 744.15 points over the day while Bradshaw tallied 684. Brittany Jumer finished ninth on the 1-meter after earning 514.65.
The women will move to the higher springboard tomorrow as the men take on the 1-meter.
