EUGENE, Ore. – Led by Megan Elliott’s three-hit complete game effort, the No. 9 Sun Devil Softball team returned to form Friday afternoon as they took a 5-1 win from the Oregon Ducks in Eugene at Howe Field. The Sun Devils improve to 39-16 overall and 9-11 in conference play while Oregon falls to 16-33 and 3-16 in the Pac-10.

A State was all business in the first as they came out swinging with the opening bell as Jessica Mapes led off with a single followed with a walk to Kaitlin Cochran to put ducks on the pond before Kaylyn Castillo dug in to loft her seventh double of the season to plate them both and take a 2-0 lead. UO fired back in the bottom of the inning as Neena Bryant with two outs lifted a 1-0 pitch deep to center field for her eighth four-bagger of the season to make it 2-1 after one.

The sassy Sun Devils added some insurance runs in the fifth and seventh as Katelyn Boyd collected an RBI and by taking advantage of two Duck bloopers as they put three more on to push the score to 5-1 after ASU’s at-bats were finished.

Megan Elliott pitched the complete game, taking her tenth win of the season to push her record to 10-6 overall as she tallied five strikeouts while allowing only three hits.

The Sun Devils will take to the field once more in their final regular season game tomorrow as they face the Oregon Ducks in Eugene at Howe Field. Game time has been changed to 11:00 a.m. to accommodate travel.
