Final Results

The Arizona State women's golf team led a five stroke lead slip by at the end of the day as the Oklahoma State Cowgirls took first at the PING/ASU Invitational. The Sun Devils shot a 22-over 886 (294-291-301) to place third at their home tournament. The team had to play without 2008 All-American Jaclyn Sweeney who had to withdraw due to extreme illness. Maria Hernandez of Purdue won the invitational, shooting a 5-under 211 (72-69-70).

The Sun Devils had two golfers in the top 10. Junior Juliana Murcia finished sixth after carding 2-over 218 (73-71-74). Freshman Carlota Ciganda also placed in the top 10, shooting a 6-over 222 (73-75-74) to tie for ninth.

Jennifer Osborn finished the tournament 8-over 224 (74-73-77) to tie for 15th. Freshman Giulia Molinaro shot a 14-over 230 (77-77-76) and tied for 39th. Playing as an individual, Liisa Kelo carded a 19-over 235 (79-79-77).

The Sun Devils will next head to Silicon Valley to battle it out for the Pac-10 Championship. The conference tournament begins Thursday, April 23 and concludes Saturday April 25.

Munoz Finishes 40th
Senior Azahara Munoz finished tied for 40th at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The 2008 NCAA Champion, who was one of five amateurs to receive an exemption to the LPGA event, shot a 7-over 295 (71-74-77-73). Munoz will return to compete with her team at the Pac-10 Championships.
