CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - Twelve runs off fourteen hits spelled the story Saturday afternoon as No. 3 Sun Devil Softball team locked up a 12-4 win in five innings over Texas. Hillary Bach took the win on the day with Caylyn Carlson and Renee Welty leading the offense with back-to-back home runs. The Sun Devils are now 13-3 overall as Texas drops to 8-4.

The Longhorns struck first on the day as an error brought home a run for Texas in the third inning, but ASU wasted no time in knocking a few back at them in the bottom of the inning as three straight hits loaded the bags for Katelyn Boyd to take a 1-0 pitch down the right line for a three-RBI triple. RBI hits from Christina Zambrana and Jessica Ware rounded out the inning with ASU taking hold of the reigns and the lead after three complete.

Texas came back in the fourth to slap two on the board but ASU came out full throttle in the bottom of the inning as the Sun Devils plated a couple before Texas's Brittany Barnhill found herself in an unfortunate circumstance with bases loaded and no outs as Caylyn Carlson dug into the batter's box. Carlson wasted no time lifting the first pitch she saw deep to left center for a grand slam and her fourth home run on the season. Renee Welty matched her in the next at bat as she hit a 0-1 pitch way past the left field wall for A State's 23rd home run of the season.

Hillary Bach looked solid in the circle for the Sun Devils giving up only six hits and three earned runs on the day while striking out four as she pushed her record to a perfect 8-0.

The Sun Devils will wrap the 2009 Palm Springs Classic tomorrow as they set to face the No. 23 UMass Minutewomen at 10 a.m. PT in Cathedral City, Calif.
