LOS ANGLES - The Arizona State women's soccer team pushed the third-ranked UCLA Bruins to the limit on their home field on Sunday before falling 3-2 in double overtime.

For the Sun Devils (7-3-2, 0-2-0 Pac-10), Sunday's loss was tough to endure after first leading and then later coming back to force overtime after falling behind only to come up short in the end.

After Alexandra Elston put the Sun Devils up 1-0 in the first half, the Bruins (11-1-1, 2-0-0 Pac-10) responded with goals in the 55th minute and the 68th minute to take a 2-1 lead.

As time started to tick away, the Sun Devils would find the equalizer in the 80th minute when freshman Kiara Williams was able to locate the ball in a scramble in front of the UCLA goal and find the back of the net for her third goal of the season.

Both teams had chances in the first overtime, however neither team could get the go-ahead score. In the second overtime the Bruins would win the game when junior midfielder Lauren Barnes connected on a shot into the far left post after the Sun Devils were unable to clear a ball out of the UCLA zone.

Freshman goalkeeper Alyssa Gillmore tied the ASU single-game record for saves with 14 on a day in which the Sun Devils were outshot 37-13.

The Sun Devils return to action on Friday when they host Washington State at 7 p.m.
