The fifth-ranked Sun Devils, who shot a 4-over par 284 Saturday, are in sole possession of first place with a 17-over par 577 (293-284) after the second day of the Olympia Fields/ Fighting Illini Invitational. Senior Tristan Bierenbroodspot fired a 1-under par 69 (71-69) and is tied for 3rd with Brian Carter of Georgia at (70-70) an even-par 140. He trails Seth Lauer (68-71) of Northwestern and Max Kieffer (70-69) of Florida, who are each at a 1-under par 139, for the overall individual lead.
Junior Scott Pinckney followed up his stellar first round with a 6-over par 76 to finish 12th overall with a 4-over par 144 (68-76). Junior Jesper Kennegard shot a 1-over par 71 to tie for 19th at a 6-over par 146 (75-71) and senior Knut Borsheim tallied a team-best 2-under par 68 to finish tied for 23rd with a 7-over par 147 (79-68). Junior Cameron Edens ended the day in 71st with a two-day combined total 21-over par 161 (82-79).
No. 10 Texas (289-292) jumped into second place with a 21-over par 581, while No. 1 Stanford (295-288) and No. 2 Oklahoma St. (295-288) ended the day tied for third after each team shot a 23-over par 583. Pac-10 rival USC moved into fifth place with a 25-over 585 (295-290).
