TEMPE, Ariz.A six-hit complete game shutout with three strikeouts by Hillary Bach to collect her 11th win of the season coupled with ASU’s full-throttle offense led the No. 7 ASU Softball team over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits with a 13-0 win in five innings. ASU put up 17 hits on the night with 19 different ASU batters gracing the plate on the night. ASU is now 19-4 overall while S. Dakota State drops to 3-12.

 

The first inning saw the Sun Devil offense explode out of the gate, as they nearly batted around the order twice in the inning, putting 13 hits up on the board for 12 runs with RBI hits from Krista Donnenwirth, Katie Crabb, Jessica Mapes and Kaitlin Cochran. Cochran also collected her 50th career double in the inning, which ties her with ASU’s all-time career leader, Kara Brun.

 

While Bach continued to work her magic in the circle, keeping the Jackrabbits off the scoreboard, ASU went to work again in the second inning with Brooke Neuman collecting a RBI single to right center to plate Talor Haro. With a 13 run lead, the Devil D settled in to shut down the Jackrabbits and skate off with the win in five. Hillary Bach collected the win to remain flawless at 11-0 on the season.

 

The Sun Devils will continue their three game series with the Jackrabbits tomorrow as they host Game Two of the series at 6 p.m. in Tempe at Farrington Stadium.
