FULLERTON, Calif. - Allowing only three hits while striking out eight, Katie Burkhart led the No. 1 ASU Softball team to a 3-1 win over the 15th-ranked Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns Friday morning on Day Three of the Judi Garmen Classic to push ASU to a 33-2 overall record while ULL drops to 19-6.

The game was set to be a pitchers duel as both schools aces took the mound pitting ASU's Katie Burkhart against ULL's Ashley Brignac. Scoreless through one, the Sun Devils got to Brignac first in second as a lead-off error to place Jessica Mapes where she was followed up who was hit by a ball to the elbow to put two on where a foul fly brought them to second and third to set up a two-RBI single from Jackie Vasquez to take the lead.

The Cajuns rallied back to cut the lead in half in the fourth as Holly Tankersley crushed her 10th home run of the season as she hit a solo shot to right field off the first pitch of the at-bat.

Burkhart settled in after to shut them down through the rest of the game as birthday girl, Caylyn Carlson helped slam the door in the sixth inning with an RBI single to short to plate Lesley Rogers and bring the score to3-1, where it remained.
