- The No. 14 Arizona State Women's Tennis team got back on track sweeping nearly every match in straight sets Friday afternoon in Eugene as they swept the Oregon Ducks 7-0 to push their record to 9-3 overall and start off their Pac-10 record at 1-0. The Ducks fall to 7-8 and 0-1 in the Pac-10.

Doubles saw the Sun Devils come out blazing as the freshman duo of the Micaela Hein and Kelcy McKenna led the attack for ASU as they made quick work of Siobhan Cayan and Mimi Songsermsawas with an 8-3 win in the No. 3 spot. The Abdala duo finished off sealing the doubles point with an 8-5 over Celine Rolly and Stephanie McFarlane.

The took the heat into singles as well as senior Wendy Pilecka led the team taking a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win over Tina Snodgrass to set the tone for the Devils as they rattled off four more wins in straight sets over the Ducks to complete the sweep.

 

Kelcy McKenna spoke returning to her home state to compete after the match "It was amazing to come up here and have the suppoort  of the community and I'm so appreciative of everyone who came out to cheer me and ASU on. It helped us to excel on the courts."

The Sun Devils return to the courts this Tuesday as they return home to host in at 1:30 p.m. before hosting part one of the `Duel in the Desert' on Saturday as they take on Arizona on Saturday in Tempe at 1:00 p.m. PT.
