The Sun Devil diving team had a successful first day of the Pac-10 Championships. Micky Benedetti defended his three meter Pac-10 title at the Pac-10 Championships. The junior from Rome blew past the competition scoring 398.85 in the meet. His score was more than the 30 points than the next highest scorer. Benedetti was also the top finisher in the preliminary round with a score of 365.55.
Freshman Brittany Jumer had a great opening day at her first Pac-10 Championships. Jumer jumped up four spots from the preliminary round to place fourth overall in the one-meter with a score of 261.65.
Billy Sweeney also made it to the finals at the Pac-10 Championships. The junior recorded 362.10 to place sixth overall. In the preliminary round, he was also the sixth highest scorer with a score of 327.35.
The Pac-10 Diving Championships continue tomorrow as the women compete in the three meter tomorrow while the men will take the one-meter.
