TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State University wrestling team jumped to an early lead, but it was not enough as No. 17 Oklahoma scored a 31-9 decision over the Sun Devils in a Friday night dual inside the Howard McCasland Field House in Norman, Okla. The loss dropped ASU to 9-5 (3-4 Pac-10) on the year while the Sooners improved to 12-2 (0-2 Big XII).

No. 14 Anthony Robles continued his winning ways at 125 pounds as he win his bout at 125 pounds to open the dual. Despite being taken down 15 seconds into the bout, Robles escaped and then scored a takedown of his own eight seconds later, which led to his win by fall over Joey Fio at 1:22. Leading 6-0, the Sun Devils moved their advantage to 9-0 on the team scoreboard as Todd Schavrien opened an early 5-0 lead before winning, 7-2, over J.R. Roman at 133 pounds.

From there, though, the Sooners won each of the next eight bouts to win the dual. In the only match-up of ranked wrestlers, No. 14 Brent Chriswell was trailing 3-0 in the third period to No. 7 Joshua Weitzel before being pinned by the Sooner's senior at 6:01 in the 184 bout.

The Sun Devils will compete in a pair of home duals next weekend, starting with a 7:30 p.m. showdown with No. 1 Iowa at Copper Canyon High School in Glendale, Ariz., on Friday night. Then, on Sunday, the Sun Devils will face No. 8 Iowa State in a 2 p.m. dual inside Wells Fargo Arena.
