Final Stats

The Arizona State women's swimming and diving team fell in their season-opener to Kansas as the Jayhawks squeaked by the Sun Devils 149-147. The Sun Devils dropped to 0-1 on the season. Despite the opening loss, a number of freshmen made a splash taking four events.

The Sun Devils opened the meet strong placing first and third in the 200 medley relay. The ASU distance swimmers continued the momentum as sophomore Christine Mauro placed first in the 1000 free with a time of 10:22.65. Freshman Sasha Stephens won the 100 back, touching in at 56.14. Ashton Aubry clocked in a time of 2:00.17 in the 200 fly to take first.

Stephens won her second even of the night, touching in at 2:03.13 in the 200 back. In the 200 breast, the Sun Devils went one and two as Penelope Yamauchi and Jordyn Green earned times of 2:16.54 and 2:17.70 respectively. Aubry took first in the 100 fly in 54.53 to win her second event of the night. Yamauchi also continued to make a splash as she touched in over 2008 NCAA qualifier Danielle Herrmann in 2:02.44 in the 200 IM. The Sun Devils finished in high fashion as the A relay team won the 200 free relay in 1:34.73.

The Sun Devils will have their annual intersquad meet tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.
