The Arizona State men's swimming and diving team is currently in third place at the Dallas Morning News Classic with 116.5 points. On day one of the invitational, two Sun Devils recorded second place finishes and had two athletes place third in events as well.
In the 400 IM, CJ Nuess finished runner-up with a time of 3:53.98. His time is under the NCAA "B" cut. Colin Gladys also participated in the 400 IM, finishing tenth at 4:10.00. In the 200 free, Sean Boyle touched in at 1:40.00 to finish fourth. Vinicius Waked came in at 1:39.12 to finish second in the consolation final and eighth overall.
Steve Neuwert had a third place finish in the 50 free. The senior co-captain came in at 20.67. Mohammed Madwa also competed in the 50 free, clocking in a time of 21.15.
In the one meter diving event, Billy Sweeney earned an NCAA automatic qualifying score to finish second overall.
After the diving break, two Sun Devils competed in the 100 fly. Senior co-captain John Dwelley finished fifth overall after clocking in at 49.79. Gladys also competed in the event, finishing in 51.23. In the 100 back, Ante Cvitkovic earned a time of 50.79 to place third overall while Boyle came in at 51.06. In the 100 breast, Nuess claimed fourth place with a time of 57.78 while Dwelley clocked in a time of 58.30.
The Sun Devils will continue to compete in the Dallas Morning News Classic which continues through tomorrow.
