TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's soccer team dropped its second consecutive contest, losing to TCU 1-0 on Friday night. ASU fell to 1-2-1 for the season while TCU improved to 3-0-1.
The Sun Devils lost despite holding a 16-6 advantage in shots. The lone goal of the contest came in the game's 20th minute when TCU freshman forward Jordan Calhoun scored on a cross from teammate Lizzy Karoly.
"For the second game in a row we did not play well in the first half," said ASU head coach Kevin Boyd. "In the second half our intensity improved and we started to play our game, but we did a poor job of finishing when we had opportunities.
"I don't want to take anything away from TCU because they did what they had to do to win."
Leading ASU in shots were junior Carly Kallas and freshman Sierra Cook, who each had five while sophomore Karin Volpe added four. In her first action of the season, junior goalkeeper Briana Silvestri made three saves for the Sun Devils.
TCU sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Walters made five saves for the Horned Frogs.
ASU returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Weber State at 1 p.m.
