POSTGAME NOTES


Game 12: 3, 1

·         The Sun Devils knotted the overall series with at 4-4.  The win marks the second time ASU defeated the Tide this week (they won 3-1 in Game 3).   improved to 64-5 on the season.

·         and entered the WCWS as the top two scoring offenses in nation.  The Crimson Tide averaged 7.02 runs per game while the Sun Devils averaged 6.91. 

·         Jackie Vasquez's three-run home run in the third marked the fourth of the season for the Sun Devil.  The senior has accounted for three runs, two hits and three RBI this week in .  It was the Sun Devils' 96th home run of the season, most in the nation.

·         is the only undefeated team in the NCAA Championship at 8-0 and has outscored its opponents 41-3.  The win today also marked the first time ASU has won three games in a WCWS and the first time to advance to the championship game/series.

·         lost just its fourth game in 48 outings when scoring first (it took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI single by Jordan Praytor).  The Tide also led the Sun Devils 1-0 in Game 1 of the World Series before losing 3-1. 

·         The Sun Devils improved to 48-1 on the year when leading after three innings (led 3-1 after the third today).  Katie Burkhart was credited with the victory for ASU and has a 39-5 record heading into the championship series.

  

·         's Brittany Rogers extended her hitting streak to 19 games with a leadoff single in the first inning. She has reached base in 63 of 65 games this season.

·         ended their season with a 58-8 record.  They are now 4-10 all-time at the World Series in five appearances.
