The third-ranked Arizona State women's golf team remains in second place after the second of competition at the 2008 PING/ASU Invitational. The Sun Devils are currently 4-over 580 (288-292) and are 11 strokes behind tournament leader Southern California (569). ASU leads third-place Georgia (582) by two strokes.
Sophomore All-American Anna Nordqvist led the Sun Devils for the second consecutive day. Nordqvist shot a 4-under 140 (70-70) to move into second place after the second round. Shooting a 1-under 143 (73-70), junior All-American Azahara Munoz tied for sixth.
Junior All-American Jennifer Osborn shot a 3-over 147 (72-75) to tie for 20th. Juliana Murcia finished the second round tied for 36th at 6-over 150 (73-77). Camila Sola rounded out the Sun Devils line-up at 15-over 159 (78-81) to tie for 75th.
While not in the line-up, Sun Devils Liisa Kelo and Brooke Todare competed as individuals. Kelo finished the day at 10-over 153 (73-81) to tie for 59th while Todare tied for 75th at 15-over 159 (81-78).
USC's Dewi Claire Schreefel leads the tournament individually, shooting a two-round total of 7-under 137 (68-69).
The PING/ASU Invitational will wrap up tomorrow at the par-72, 6,230-yard ASU Karsten Golf Course. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
