The No. 1 Arizona State women's golf team finished in first place at the "Mo" Morial Invitational. ASU previously won the Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Feb. 26-27, making this the second first place finish in a row and the third of the year. The Sun Devils shot a 29-over 893 (303-296-294), eleven strokes over second place USC.

"This group is so solid and it's exciting to see them gain more confidence every day," said Head Coach Melissa Luellen.

Individually, Anna Nordqvist finished in second place after shooting a 2-over 218 (73-73-72). Sophomore All-American Jennifer Osborn shot a 4-over 220 (76-73-71) to finish in third place. Sophomore All-American Azahara Munoz shot a 9-over 225 (76-75-74) to tie for fifth place. Freshman Juliana Murcia tied for 14th after shooting a 14-over 230 (78-75-77). Junior Camila Sola shot a 23-over 239 (83-75-71). Senior Lindsay Anderson, playing as an independent, shot a 32-over 248 (80-84-84) to tie for 61st.

"The girls refer to Anna as 'life insurance' because she is dependable," said Luellen. "Jen and Aza had very solid showings and Juliana earned an exemption from team qualifying with her tie for 14th place."

Arizona State was the only team to have three golfers in the top-five. In fact, no other team had three golfers in the top-10.

"The short-game display was quite impressive," said Luellen. "It is great to see their hard work pay off."

Earlier this week, Arizona State moved passed Georgia, in the Golfweek.com rankings, and earned the position of the number one women's golf team in the nation. The Sun Devils moved into the top spot after winning the Wildcat Invitational for the second straight year. In the second round of the Wildcat Invitational, ASU recorded a season-low round of 277.

In September, the Sun Devils finished in first place at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, their first tournament of the season.

Next up, first-ranked Arizona State hosts the PING/ASU Invitational, March 30-April 1. The tournament will be held at their home course of Karsten Golf Course.
