Tucson, Ariz. - The second-ranked Arizona State women's golf team is in the first-place after the first two rounds of the Wildcat Invitational. ASU shot a 9-over 577 (300-277) at the par-71, 6,238-yard Arizona National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. Duke, the Sun Devils' next closest competitor, is 11 strokes off the lead.

In the first-round, ASU shot a 16-over 300 and at one time this morning was in 15th place at the bottom of the leader board. "We started the day off kind of flat this morning," said Associate Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "Nothing was really working. We weren't making some swings."

However, the Sun Devils lit up the second-round shooting a 7-under 277, securing a comfortable lead atop the leader board. "The girls turned it around," said Farr-Kaye. "They knew we were near the bottom of the leader board and they just really flipped a switch. They played some outstanding golf. It was really fun to watch."

Leading the Sun Devils was sophomore All-American Jennifer Osborn. Osborn shot a 1-under 141 (74-67) to tie for second. Sophomore All-American Azahara Munoz shot a 1-over 143 (74-69) to tie for third. Freshman Anna Nordqvist shot a 2-over 144 (77-67) to tie for sixth. Freshman Juliana Murcia is tied for 18th after shooting a 7-over 149 (75-74). Senior Lindsay Anderson shot an 18-over 160 (79-81) to tie for 60th. Redshirt freshman Liisa Kelo, who is playing as an independent, shot a 14-over 156 (75-81) to tie for 50th.

Duke Blue Devil and Phoenix native Amanda Blumenherst shot a 3-under 139 to lead all golfers.

The final round of the 2007 Wildcat Invitational concludes tomorrow.
