Kona, Hawaii - The Arizona State men's golf team is tied for third place with Georgia Tech after the first round of the Hawaii-Hilo Invitational. ASU shot a 8-under 272 at the par-71, 6,120-yard Waikoloa Village Golf Club. Stanford is in first place after shooting a 12-under 261.
Leading the Sun Devils was the All-American tandem of Niklas Lemke and Benjamin Alvarado Holley who each shot a 5-under 66 to tie for third place. Freshman Tristan Bierenbroodspot shot a 3-under 68 to tie for 17th. Sophomore Steele DeWald tied for 61 after shooting a 1-over 72. Rounding out the Sun Devils was freshman Knut Borsheim who shot a 2-over 73.
The second round of the Hawaii-Hilo Invitational will continue tomorrow with the final round played on Feb. 9.
