BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. - The No. 3 Arizona State women's golf team shot a 19-over 307 on Thursday and is in 15th place after the first round of the NCAA East Regional, being played Thursday-Saturday at the par 72, 6,386-yard Bryan Park Golf Club.
Senior Alissa Kuczka and freshman Jennifer Osborn led the top-seeded Sun Devils on Thursday, shooting a three-over 75 to put themselves in a tie for 39th place, only four shots out of the top 10. Freshman Azahara Munoz is two shots behind Kuczka and Osborn and stands in a tie for 64th place after carding a five-over 77 on Thursday.
California and LSU, the No. 5 and No. 9 seeds, respectively, both shot an even-par score of 288 and are tied for the top spot after the first round of play. Southeastern Conference schools Tennessee (292), Auburn (293) and Alabama (295) are in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively, followed by a four-way tie - South Carolina, North Carolina, Vanderbilt and host school Wake Forest - for sixth place (296).
Individually speaking, Jenny Suh of Alabama leads the tournament after shooting a three-under 69. Melissa Eaton of LSU, Mandy Goins of Wake Forest, Lauren Smith of Augusta State and Marci Turner of Tennessee are all tied for second place with a two-under 70.
Other Sun Devil scores include junior Tiffany Tavee, who shot an eight-over 80 to tie for 86th place and junior Charmaine Erasmus, who currently stands in 107th place after shooting a 14-over 86.

The Sun Devils will tee off at 1:20 p.m. EDT on Friday and will play with Auburn and Tennessee.
The top eight teams from each of the three NCAA Regionals (East, West and Central) will qualify for the NCAA Championships, being hosted May 23-26 by Ohio State University at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
