AUSTIN, Texas - Members of the Arizona State University track and field team headed to Austin, Texas, Friday to compete in the 79th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and turned in several strong performances at the prestigious meet held at Mike A. Myers Stadium. In all, seven individuals and two relays combined to record five NCAA regional qualifying marks with three coming on the track and two in the field.

The men's sprints turned in solid marks as Kelvin Love Jr., led the way by placing third overall in the preliminaries of the 100m dash in a regional qualifying mark of 10.42. Love Jr., also ran on the 4x100m relay team that advanced to the finals as the quartet finished with a regional mark of 39.96 for ninth place overall. The other members of the squad included Steven Koehnemann, who also finished 22nd in the 100m dash preliminaries in 10.75, Domenik Peterson and Chris Adams.

On the women's side of the competition, Latosha Wallace finished 12th in the 400m hurdles in 59.89 to earn a regional berth before helping the 4x400m relay team finish 11th with a regional mark of 3:34.96. The relay, which improved its season best mark by nearly five seconds, included Shauntel Elcock, Christina Hardeman, Jacquelyn Johnson and Wallce. In the only other track event of the day, Johnson was called for a false start in the 100m hurdles.

In the field, Stephanie Garnett placed fifth in the `B' section of the long jump and earned a regional berth with her mark of 6.00m (19-08.25) while Cara Walker placed fourth in the `B' section of the pole vault with a clearance of 3.80m (12-05.50), also a regional mark.
